What To Consider When You’re Shopping For Private Jets

There are many things to consider when it's time shop for private jets. Some of those are fairly obvious. You'll likely get information about cabin space, number of seats and other amenities right up front from the manufacturer. But what else should you think of?

Here are a few things that might not come to mind and that might not be offered up by the manufacturer's information.

While the amount of floor space in the passenger areas is important, total dimensions of the cabin are also important. Spending several hours in a plane is going to become incredibly uncomfortable for a person who isn't able to stand up and stretch occasionally.

Find out what the height of the cabin is directly above the seats as well as the maximum height in the middle of the passenger area.

Restrooms may seem a given in private jets, but don't take these facilities for granted. Even if one or more restrooms is present, find out all there is to know about them. Space is one of those pieces of information that you might not be given up front. Ask about total dimensions and what is found inside the restrooms.

The baggage area is typically one of the features touted by the manufacturer on most private jets, but there's more to baggage storage than simply the amount of square feet available. The dimensions of the space are also important.

For example, a baggage area that is only two feet wide and two feet high but stretches the length of the plane will have significant total space available, but is that space really something that can be utilized? This is an extreme example, but makes the point that you need usable space in the baggage compartment.

The area shouldn't be too high as that will mean that you're forced to stack bags several deep. The entire area set aside for baggage should also be easily accessible so that it can all be utilized effectively.

Cockpit comfort and controls of private jets are another important point that many manufacturers may not immediately offer up. Be sure that your cockpit crew has everything they need in order to ensure their adequate operation of the aircraft.

If you aren't a pilot, it's probably a good idea to consult one or more regarding the necessities and the amenities.

At the end of the trip, it's really up to you to decide what's most important and what points (if any) you feel you can compromise on.
