Air Travel: To Love Or To Hate?
We need it for our business as it saves time. We need it for our charter jet to Vegas as it allows us to go to many placed. However we face longer security checks and more confusing purchasing decisions about air travel. With airports becoming overly crowded, air travel is growing continuously and so is our love-hate relationship with it!
The overcrowded airports not only have a downside impact on the environment, but also on the mental environment of passengers!
One can often find frustrated passengers slumped over seats waiting for delayed or missed flights. The worst part is seeing the children who are dragged by their parents across the globe while they would simply be much happier playing in their sand box in the backyard or their own home.
Air travel can be great when it works out and ghastly when it doesn't. We either arrive for the convention just in time and in the right mood or we are left paying astronomical prices for coffee and donuts in the boarding room just because we have nowhere else to go.
Air travel also provides many opportunities for getting things done such as taking a nap, reading a book, watch a movie or complete some to do lists! However sometimes it is as if the world is conspiring and preventing us from doing any of these things and we find that our laptop battery is dead, there is a wailing baby sitting behind us (which I sometimes wish were thrown overboard with a parachute!) and the overly healthy man sitting next to us taking the full portion of our side of the arm rest!
On the other side we find sitting a chatterbox who believes that we are interested in the narration of their entire life story. I initially try to look interested and be polite but if becomes too much I just pretend to be asleep and that usually works.
I do admit to my oddity of liking airline food. I am one of the few people that look forward to airline meals and the little snacks. Opening all those packets is a kind of foreplay and novelty that I truly enjoy.
The best food I ever had was on Air Italia who also had the best rolls and cheese that I have ever found served on a plane. The ice cream was gorgeous and so were the stewardesses if I say so myself.
The future of flying is currently uncertain with high global security alerts due to the looming threat of terrorism. So air travel is bound to get more difficult and less convenient. In that case, it would probably be a good idea for them to install beds at the airport, or turn the airport into a cinema hall, or what the hell, why not wish for both since neither are likely to happen anyway!
